What Is F-Wave?
So, what is it? F-Wave is a shingle that is relatively new to the roofing market but already very popular. Made from TPO (Thermoplastic Polyolefin), it is more durable and easier to use than other roofing materials. From its warranties, to it’s looks; it is quickly becoming one of the top roofing materials out there. Below we will tell you why roofers and homeowners are choosing F-Wave for their roofs today.

Let’s Get into it
Hail Warranty
F-Wave has a 5 year hail warranty. What does that mean? There are no other roofing shingles on the market that offer hail warranties. This sets your roof apart alone. F-Wave is confident in what its product can take on!
Wind Rating
Tested for 170mph winds, F-Wave has a warranty that covers wind damage up to 130mph. In comparison, the standard asphalt shingle has a wind rating up to 60mph. There is a 70pmh difference between these shingles. The difference is due to F Waves self healing technology. This technology which allows its shingles to continually reseal themselves when exposed to warm temperatures. Therefore, the shingles are repeatedly resealing themselves, keeping the wind out.
Class 4 Impact Resistant
What determines impact resistance class? A rating is determined by a roofing materials performance over number of tests. These tests are done by dropping a 2 inch steel ball 20 feet onto the shingle numerous times and afterwards, checking the damage. During these tests, the F-Wave shingle passed without showing significant damage. This means that your roof is well protected from flying debris and hail.
Fire Resistant
F-Wave is class A fire resistant. This class is measured by how far and fast fire spreads when applied to a product. Class A fire resistance is considered fully fire resistant- meaning the shingle will not catch fire when exposed to direct flames. No matter where you live, having a fire resistant shingle will benefit you. And paying attention to different shingle ratings will affect the type of shingle you purchase for your home.
Moisture Resistant
Made from TPO, F-Wave shingles do not have granules and are well equipped to handle outdoor elements. The sleek material these shingles use makes it easy to keep moisture outside where it belongs.
UV Protected
Uv Protection means your shingles will not fade and age from the hot sun, unlike asphalt shingles which begin to fade after sun exposure and storms. To ensure this protection F-Wave has a 50 year warranty that covers algae, wind, and fading. That’s a looonnng time.
Self Repairing
Because of it’s material, F-Wave adapts well to hot and cold temperatures. But it has a very unique feature when it comes to warmer weather. When temperatures rise, the shingle will soften and attempt to return to its original form, healing any damages along the way. Scratches, dents and small cracks heal from sun exposure. This design is the first of its own. F-Wave is the first self-healing shingle.
Recyclable
Let’s talk about thermoplastic and why it’s so cool. Thermoplastic is a class of polymers, a substance that becomes plastic upon heating and hardens upon cooling. Because of this, the shingle is able to be recycled in many different ways. Additionally, the energy stored in the shingles chemical bonds can be converted into synthetic gas, electricity and other materials. F-Wave shingles are a long-term, sustainable and environmentally friendly option. This is why we consider F-Wave to be the future of roofing.
No Granules
No. Granules. Period. No granules in your gutters, no granules in your flowerbeds, no granules in your life. Why does this matter? Well, it’s cleaner, for one. In addition, the more a shingle is stepped on, the more damaged it becomes, and the less protection is it can offer. The less protection a shingle has, the sooner your roof will leak or your shingles break. And we don’t want that. F Wave shingles are granule FREE and safely walkable without compromising the integrity of the shingle.
Looks Fantastic
F-Wave is for everyone; it comes in many different styles and colors. Whether you like the look of designer shingle’s, metal roofing, or cedar shake, F-Wave can imitate them all and you would never know the difference. There are no limits to what this shingle can do! (It’s also not as noisy as metal).
The Only Downside
The only downside that we can find thus far is firstly- the minimum temperature requirement for installation (50 degrees) is higher than than other shingles (40 degrees). But who wants to be installing in 40 degrees anyhow? But seriously, don’t try and install F-Wave below 50 degrees- the seal needs to properly stick or the product will be ineffective.
Secondly, the F-Wave shingle has only been on the market since 2015. In other words, it has not been around long enough to reach its 50 year life expectancy. However, IT HAS A 50 YEAR LIFE EXPECTANCY! Who does that!? In conclusion, if your roof doesn’t last 50 years, you are covered by warranty for labor and material. You have 0 reason to worry.
