How do you know if you have wind damage to your roof? How can you spot wind damage to your roof? Let us help! How To Spot Wind Damage On Your Roof
Missing Shingles
The most obvious way to spot wind damage is missing shingles. If you notice missing shingles, this is a pretty tell-tale sign that there is damage to your roof. As easy as this should be to spot, shingles will sometimes fall off in very hard to see areas. It may take getting up on your roof to be able to spot even a missing shingle. From here on out, the signs are a lot less obvious.
Pulled Fastener
Another sign of a damaged roof is a pulled fastener. A pulled fastener is either a staple or nail meant to hold the shingle in place. A pulled fastener is where that nail or staple becomes detached from the shingle, no longer keeping it in place.
A Broken Seal
Following a pulled fastener, the wind will begin to take a toll on the seal. Eventually pull the shingle free, rendering the seal useless.
Creased Shingles
Like the previous two signs, creased shingles aren’t visible from the ground. To see this damage, you must be on the roof to identify them. After a fastener is pulled and seal broken, the wind will warp, and bend shingles until they break. Before the shingles break, you will notice creases running all through them. Left unchecked, this will lead to missing shingles and roof leaks.
